Special Screening: La Jaula de oro (Mexico)

Join LARC and the Calgary Public Library for a special screening of the award-winning film La Jaula de oro (2013) by director Diego Quemada-Díez. Juan, Sara, and Samuel, three teenagers from the slums of Guatemala, travel to the United States in search of a better life. On their journey through Mexico, they meet Chauk from Chiapas. Traveling together in freight trains and walking on railroad tracks, they soon have to face an odyssey that will change their lives forever. Following the film, Q&A will be led by LARC Visiting Fellow Victoria Simmons. 

In Spanish & Tzotzil with English subtitles. 108mins in total.  Free and open event.  Thursday October 19 @ 7pm, at the John Dutton Theatre, Central location of the Calgary Public Library 616 Macleod Trail SE.
