The Canadian Assocation of Hispanists and the Consulate of Colombia in Calgary will be hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Gabo: The Magic of Reality (2016) by Justin Webster. The film tells the incredible story of the late Gabriel García Márquez, who grew up in the violence and poverty of northern Colombia to become the world’s most influential and endeared authors. This film is a story about the incredible power of human imagination, following the interwoven threads of Gabriel García Márquez’s life and work – “Gabo” to all of Latin America – with the narrative tension of an investigation.
