Renato Lira (left) and Francisco Vallejo (right)

It’s a long way from Mexico City and Recife (Brazil) to Calgary, but Globalink Interns Francisco Vallejo and Renato Lira have already seen a lot of the Canadian academe. They arrived at the start of Congress and both assisted with the conference of the Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (June 1-3). Lira is an undergraduate history student from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco and he is working under the supervision of Dr. Hendrik Kraay. Vallejo is an undergrdaute student from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and is working under the supervision of Dr. Amelia Kiddle. Mitacs’s Globalink program offers advanced undergraduate students from several countries the opportunity to spend a three-month internship at a Canadian university to work on a Canadian professor’s research project.
