Join LARC for the third screening of our Chilean cinema series with the highly-acclaimed film De jueves a domingo (Thursday Till Sunday). The story follows two children travel with their parents from Santiago to the north of Chile for a family holiday that this might turn out to be their last family vacation.

As part of the LARC Dialogues Series, LARC will host Brian Calliou (The Banff Centre), Larissa Lai (University of Calgary), and Walter Mignolo (Duke University) to explore the challenges of decolonization and reconciliation through a broad-ranging discussion of different ways of knowing.

LARC, CMSS and the Dept. of Political Science are pleased to host Dr. Robert Muggah, Co-Founder & Research Director of the Igarape Institute who will give an engaging talk titled "The Rise of Citizen Security in the Americas" on March 12, 2018, at 12pm in the Gallery Hall, TFDL. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Join LARC for the opening screening of our Chilean cinema series with the highly-acclaimed film La Jubilada (2012) by director Jairo Boisier. Fabiola returns to her birthplace, far from Santiago, after seven years away. But there are still enough people who recognize her from her work as a porn actress.

Dr. Pablo Policzer, LARC Director, will facilitate discussion of the film A Bold Peace: Costa Rica's Path of Demilitarization (2016) at the Ploughshares Calgary event on Jan 10, 2018. The screening is free and open to the public and will begin at 7pm at the Parkdale United Church, 2919 8 Ave NW. 

Andrea, a young executive is trapped through the weekend on the rooftop of her office alongside Gualberto, the janitor. Truly lost in an asphalt and glass sea, both characters think over their lives and values.
